Bill's - Soho

Bill's Soho, on Brewer Street, has become a very popular destination in the heart of this hip area of London. Parquet floors, leather club chairs, chandeliers, vintage mirrors, and plenty of other signature Bill's features, give it a real sparkle. From breakfast to dinner, the restaurant is open throughout the day. Close to the city's major theatres and all the other attractions of the West End, the restaurant is perfect for pre and post-theatre drinks and dinner, and is open til midnight from Thursday to Saturday. Bill Collison, founder of Bill's, opened the first Bill's in Lewes, East Sussex, in 2001. Built on the same site where Bill had been running a successful greengrocery for several years, Bill's Café & Produce Store, as it was then known, was an instant success. The aim was to make a place that was colourful and exuberant, with dishes that were really tasty and also made you smile, that put every day and unusual seasonal ingredients together and gave everyone lots of ideas to take home with them. The team at Bill's baked, cooked and served deliciously different food, hung skeins of raffia from the ceiling, stacked towers of produce for people to buy and hired lively, enthusiastic staff to look after their customers. They wanted Bill's to be somewhere that really celebrated food and was welcoming to everyone, a place that felt like the next best thing to home. Breakfast at Bills is a great way to start your day; from a humble bacon or sausage sandwich to a bells-and-whistles super classic great British breakfast. Weekends are a different story, time to kick back and turn breakfast into brunch, complete with newspapers, freshly squeezed orange juice and plenty of tea or coffee.

We dined there on 02/04/2022. The food was cold and inedible. Everything was tasteless. When I complained the chef came to the table and was very abrupt and aggressive. Don’t go there.

I visited Bills on Brewer street with a friend who has PTSD, along with his service dog. My friend is a carnivore, and I’m a vegetarian. We left very happy. I called ahead to let them know we would be bringing a service dog, so could do with some extra space away from customers, and was assured it would not be a problem. Sure enough the staff were kind enough to let us sit towards the back of the restaurant (where it was quieter) and take any available table (despite there being only two of us and the comfortable tables ranging from 6-10 seats!) to allow the dog room and my friend the comfort of having his back to the wall. This was partly down to luck as there is of course no way to guarantee that the tables would have been available, but all the staff, from the manager to the table service, were extremely accommodating. While I always think restaurants need a wider range of vegetarian options, and Bills is no exception, what was on offer was good. The food arrived very quickly (I had the halloumi salad, which was fresh, and my friend had steak with chips and eggs, perfectly cooked), and the staff stayed attentive without being overbearing. My friend and I were surprised by how much we enjoyed the place, as even when the tables around us started to fill up the restaurant maintained a good atmosphere that wasn't too overbearing for my friend and the dog. Two very happy customers who will be coming back thanks to the impeccable service.

Another great pre theatre meal

We often visit Bill's before heading off to the theatre and it never disappoints. Good food, friendly waitresses and quick service make it a great experience.
