The George at Burpham

Real ale, good wine, great food and a warm welcome await you at the 'relaunched' George at Burpham pub restaurant, near Arundel. This unique 17th century inn is set in the heart of Burpham, a charming small village full of character, surrounded by the glorious South Downs National Park and just minutes from Arundel. The pub became independently owned by local people in 2013 and reopened in July after refurbishment with a fresh new look and a new, exciting menu, which is gaining a fine reputation through word of mouth. The restaurant serves delicious British food with a modern twist and is committed to using, wherever possible, seasonal and local produce from the best suppliers. The cuisine is tasty, rustic food without pretension. The focus is on flavour and generosity, and on offer are regular favourites plus seasonal dishes in the daily changing menu.

We were badly treated by the staff regarding our reservation time and when to arrive. We decided to leave. Martin, a staff member followed up with a phone call, said he was sorry, BUT said it was very common for restaurants to ask you to come early so you can enjoy a drink before dinner. And further, he said the George is known for its great pub atmosphere and happens to have good food. We won't go back. Martin spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to convince me he was right. He was disrespectful and patronizing.
