Welcoming pub with good service and varied menu. Could possibly benefit from a more affordable house wine below £32.
Wonderful food!

As always the EOM really delivers…top quality food but with surprisingly large portions. A favourite place of mine.
Relaxed atmosphere, great service as always and excellent food!

On booking I was specifically asked if it was for an occasion. I informed them it was a birthday. On arrival the restaurant was virtually empty (23rd December, traditionally a quiet night) we were greeted by a very nice young lady who seated us. We were given the menu and the specials board and she took our drinks order. Having studied the menu she same to take our order and unfortunately informed us the crab I had chosen was not available. I re chose my main and all was fine. The starters arrived and were excellent. My partner and I had both selected the rib eye as a main, cooked medium rare. My steak was so gristly that I’m afraid I had to send it back. The waitress came back to the table and asked if I would like to select anything else. The chef was clearly not prepared to give me another steak which gave me the impression that they thought my return of the food was unwarranted. If I’m paying £35 for a steak I expect to be able to get my knife through it! By this time I felt unwelcome and just had a bowl of pickled salad (which was lovely). My partner was happy with his meal and although allegedly his steak was from the same piece of meat, his was ok. I think it was an unfortunate episode and all the other food we had was very good. I was disappointed they didn’t acknowledge my partners birthday and can’t see the point of asking if you’re celebrating anything if they are not going to even say “happy birthday “ . Wouldn’t be my first choice next time I’m planning a special night out.
