Only 2 minutes walk from the famous York Minster, The Raj Restaurant was opened by Raj Ahmad on October 12th 2012 and can boast one of the best nights in town. The 70 seater restaurant has been completely refurbished and has a great range of Indian food available to eat in or takeaway.

Fantastic evening for my son's 13th birthday. Everyones food was delicious, staff were very accommodating of our needs, and a generous discount and complimentary drinks were a bonus!

I had invited 6 friends to help celebrate my Birthday.We all met next door @ the Exhibition then an 8 pm.dinner, l let everyone choose what they wanted , everyone was delighted with what they had & recommend to their friends the RAJ.

It was a very busy Saturday, but our table was booked for 8 and we did not get our main meals till at least 10pm. Pilau rice was then forget and when we reminded the waiters, extra portions that we didn’t want arrived. All the curries tasted very similar- the passanda and the masala and all very bright pink, but dissapointed

Booked a table then read the reviews, then was thinking oh I will cancel the booking but then thought no we will give it a go , the staff were so welcoming and food was amazing, we live in Bradford ( the curry capital) so we’ve eaten some lovely curry’s but this was right up there with them , when we visit York again we will definitely visit Raj for a meal
