Horse & Jockey

This beautiful old pub and restaurant has been restored to its former glory of 30 years ago, just off Monmouthshire Canal on the outskirts of New Inn village, it’s quiet and peaceful, with a fantastic beer garden complete with gazebos and picnic tables, surrounded by open, picturesque fields.

“It’s also one of the best places around for proper pub grub: have a burger – you won’t regret it.”

The meal and service was good. Unfortunately where we were seated it was very cold. A chimney was immediately to the side of us but was unused. A log burner would have been a great addition as was seen at the other end of the bar as we left.

The food itself was very nice, however extremely slow service 3 and 20 minutes in total. Our main dishes was cold by the time the vegetables came out. I had to ask for another dish of vegetables as 1 small dish given for 4 people. I understand it’s a very old building but it was freezing in there yesterday, lots of people kept their coats on from other tables also.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch yesterday. Nice food and good selection. On!y drawback was the service, it was a bit slow. Example, the deserts came out with wrong sauce, trying to get it sorted was a bit nighmare, by time it was sorted deserts had gone cold.
