Bistro West 156 offers a fresh interesting range of dishes from around Europe, but not overlooking some classic British dishes as well. The bistro is a neighbourhood eating place with a rustic feel. Philip & Rachel cook at the Bistro on a daily basis, producing great food, traditional bistro fare... honest, fresh and satisfying food prepared by cooks not celebrity chefs - food that you would serve if you had friends or family visiting for Dinner. What really matters is that the food tastes full of flavour and also has a quality that makes you think that the person making your dish has taken time and effort to make it, whether it is a bowl of soup or a fillet steak. The secret? Good, classic combinations of ingredients that need very little messing with. And the food speaks for itself. Philip's love of wine is reflected in the wine list, which includes classic French Chardonnay and Merlot - they match the food and are amazing expressions of the true grape. There are also new world wines including Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Malbec as well as wonderful Tempranillo & Rioja from Spain. The Bistro opens for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner but is also a great place to stop off for home-made cake & coffee during the daytime, and with local artists regularly exhibiting, it is always an interesting place to relax.
